POSITION SUMMARY:

The Drafting Supervisor is responsible for the management of drafting and administrative activities, planning, and budgeting for future activities and initiatives. This role is responsible for maintenance of corporate CAD software including updates, training, monitoring improvements and development of standards and methodology.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate leadership by championing Lozierâ??s Mission, Vision, and Values and living the Lozier Leadership Model.
  • Develop departmental goals and assist in annual department budget process.
  • Supervise and train drafting team including administrative work required to log attendance, time off, and payroll processes.
  • Monitor daily activities and assist in resolving questions and problems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate CAD standards, departmental work instructions, and flowcharts.
  • Implement, update, and manage CAD software and related file management software. Manage third party drafting resources for special drawings.
  • Assures proper training and proper use of CAD software within organization.
  • Research new techniques, procedures, and operating functions that allow CAD users to be more productive and efficient.
  • Responsible for methodology to archive CAD related drawings and information.
  • Assist in help desk support of CAD software related issues, as needed.
  • Conduct annual reviews, performance evaluations, and monitors/approves reviews and evaluations of direct reports.
  • Manage security and setup for the secure engineering document creation and storage systems.
  • Publish periodic reports required to maintain new design requirements and department performance.
  • Create engineering change orders and initiate the process.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create CAD models, production drawings, customer drawings or installation instructions.
  • Provide drafting commitments for new products and engineering change orders.
  • Represent department on new software and hardware acquisition/implementation and business process improvement projects.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Two-year technical degree in a related field is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related experience in drafting, engineering, or manufacturing including a minimum of 2 years of experience working with, training users, and implementing CAD software and hardware upgrades, if degreed. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in drafting, engineering, or manufacturing including a minimum of 2 years of experience working with, training users, and implementing CAD software and hardware upgrades, if non-degreed.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of 3D computer aided drafting software (Inventor, Solidworks, SolidEdge).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic mathematics, reading and interpreting engineering specifications (prints), and basic drafting practices (drawing, layout, dimensioning, and tolerance).
  • Basic PC skills (Windows, spreadsheets, word processing, and Box).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Visual Basic for Excel.
  • Basic Jira/Confluence skills.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to travel to other locations.
