Fire Science Adjunct Instructor

The Fire Science Adjunct Instructor is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the Dean. Must meet Faculty Minimum Hiring Standards and adhere to college policies and procedures.

Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with College and division policies and procedures.

Required:

• Bachelorâ??s or graduate degree in Paramedic and/or Fire Science or related field
• At least 18 undergraduate credit hours in Paramedic and/or Fire Science or related field
• Associate degree in Paramedic and/or Fire Science if considered terminal and 3000hours of recent and relevant work experience
• Special training and 6000 hours of relevant tested work experience.
• Ability to pass a background check, have a valid driverâ??s license and good driving record.

• Teaching experience
• Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, crouching, and climbing. 
• The position may require some mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
• Some roles require spending 90% of the time on feet. 
• Lifting and carrying objects (up to 80 lbs), pulling objects (up to 135 lbs), and working with objects in front of the body (up to 125 lbs).
• Adjunct faculty in firefighting programs may assist in the set-up and cleanup of lab equipment and supplies, and in the movement of materials for outdoor lab exercises. 
• Verbal and written communication skills are essential for instruction and interaction with students, faculty, and the community.
